Ear Tuner — Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026

Ear Tuner (“the app”), developed by Casey Mullen (MullenSoft), is designed so that it collects, stores, and transmits no personal data. Everything happens on your device.

Data collection

Ear Tuner does not collect any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Your scores and settings are stored locally on your device — in your browser's storage, or, on the iOS version, in the app's local data — and are never sent to a server.

Microphone

Microphone access is optional and is used only for on-device voice commands. Words like “higher”, “lower”, and “replay” are recognized locally by the open-source Vosk speech-recognition library (JavaScript and WebAssembly) running inside the app. Audio is never recorded, stored, or sent to any server.

Network usage

The iOS app makes one outbound network call: it downloads the Vosk voice-recognition model (about 40 MB) from the project's own GitHub Pages site (fiddle-app.github.io) the first time you enable voice commands, then caches it on your device for offline use. The web version (PWA) fetches its own static files from fiddle-app.github.io as you load and use the app, the same way any web page does. These are asset downloads; no information about you is sent beyond what your operating system normally includes (your IP address, browser identifier).

In-app purchases

Ear Tuner offers an optional tip jar (small one-time donations). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple; the app receives no payment details or personal information from them and stores none.

Third-party services

Ear Tuner uses no third-party services beyond hosting on GitHub Pages, which is operated by GitHub, Inc. GitHub's standard server logs may record your IP address and the URL you requested when you visit the hosted PWA or download the Vosk model. See GitHub's privacy statement for details on what they collect.

Children's privacy

Ear Tuner is appropriate for users of all ages. Because it collects no personal data and transmits nothing, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by default.

Changes

If we make any material change to this policy, we will post the new version at this URL and update the effective date at the top.
